Mental Untangle: Finding Calm Through Line Work Art
A mindful journey of creativity and self-expression for humanity, fostering mental clarity and focus through the simplicity of line drawing.

Mental Untangle is a unique art lesson plan designed to foster mindfulness, relaxation, and mental clarity through the practice of line work drawing. This project encourages participants—especially pre-teens and teens—to engage in a simple yet powerful art form that promotes focus, self-reflection, and emotional release.
The core of Mental Untangle lies in its meditative approach to creating art. By focusing on repetitive, flowing lines, participants are guided to release distractions and untangle their thoughts, leading to a sense of inner calm and mental equilibrium. This process helps artists connect with their inner selves, allowing them to express their emotions and thoughts in a non-verbal, creative way.
Each session of Mental Untangle emphasizes the therapeutic benefits of art as a mental wellness tool. As participants create, they practice mindfulness—staying present in the moment, enhancing concentration, and reducing feelings of stress or overwhelm. The simplicity of the line work makes it accessible to all skill levels, ensuring that anyone can benefit from the practice without the pressure of perfection or technical expertise.
This lesson plan is not just an art class; it’s an invitation to slow down, reflect, and use creativity as a means of achieving mental clarity and emotional balance. Whether done individually or in a group setting, Mental Untangle offers a safe and supportive space for participants to express themselves and cultivate positive mental health habits.
